Blue / Black 18ga. Twisted Pair Hookup Wire ( 2 conductors).
If you are building with some of the smaller tweeters or wide range units, you’ll find the terminals a bit petite. This 18ga is a smaller size that won’t tug menacingly on your driver.
I really like this type of hookup wire. This speaker wire solves a lot of speaker builders problems. We used to use a 2 conductor speaker wire with one jacket. Most times it was hard to see which conductor was the “Plus” side. With a multi-way speaker, you could easily mix up the different driver wires to the crossover. How many times have you asked yourself, “which one goes to the woofer”?
Don’t let any of that happen to you. The first thing you’ll like is color coding – Blue / Black. Blue for the positive terminal and black for the negative. If you subscribe to our “Meniscus” color code scheme, then you will want to use this Blue version for woofer connections. You will never again confuse the multiple wires coming out beneath the damping material in your box.
The 2nd minor benefit is the twists eliminate any inductance in the wire pair.
The 18ga wire is a sensible size for internal wiring – a nice low resistance without tugging on many of those fragile tweeter terminals.
The high purity copper wire is tin coated so you won’t have to worry about the corrosion in the years to come.
- Blue / Black – Perfect color coordination. Suggested for woofer use
- 18 ga. manageable, low resistance gauge
- High copper, tin plated – Great conductivity and no corrosion
- 300 Volt
- PVC insulator
- Sold by the Foot (30.4cm) – get as much as you need. No need to buy a whole spool.
