Audax HM130Z10 Aerogel 5.25″ Mid/Bass
A very nice 5.25″ nominal mid-range driver. The Aerogel cone is a pulp mixture with Kevlar elements. I’ve always found units using Kevlar to be excellent. When ACC took over manufacturing, this cone was the last to be included in the new lineup. It is a welcome addition. There is a brief history of Audax below.
You might be tempted to use these in a two-way design, but they are excursion limited, so the best use of these is as a true mid-range. The only downside to this driver is the odd-shaped frame that makes it difficult for the hobbyist to recess the frame in the baffle.
The last Designer to use these, to my knowledge, was Meadowlark audio. They are now defunct but delivered an exceptional product.
