Product Description
“Baby Boomer 10S” Subwoofer Kit by Jeff Bagby
The origin
Jeff had just finished up the little Sopranos for his brother when he requested a small subwoofer to compliment the small satellites. The original “Baby Boomer” was born, but not without some drawbacks.
The old design
Previously, you had the choice of a vented or passive radiator tuning. The downside of the vented tuning was that even at moderate volume levels, the port begins chuffing. The solution to this was using dual passive radiators. This increased the cost substantially. Also, the cost of the large, extra tuning weights and the labor to install them properly was the final deal breaker. Goodbye Baby Boober, Hello Baby Boomer 10S.
The New Design
New woofer but, the same cabinet size. This kit has fewer parts and is far easier to build! In the spirit of Jeff’s design, we found an upgraded woofer suitable for a sealed (acoustic suspension) cabinet. It has a larger magnet system and longer Xmax. The BB10SW” subwoofer is still awesome in an untypical, small enclosure. Less than 1 cubic foot, to be exact, with an F3 of 35Hz! Outer dimensions are 12.625″ cube
This would be a great companion piece for any of the Overnight Sensations and other smaller kits like the Speedster and Sopranos, of course.
This woofer has less than 5% sag so it can be designed as a floor-firing version too.
The full kit includes:
- 1 x BB10SW, 10″ Sub-Woofer
- 1 x 300W Digital sub amp.
- All mounting hardware
- Internal Damping materials
- Complete build plans.
