Product Description
The Bromo Loudspeaker kit by SB Acoustics
A factory-designed kit from one of the designers of SB Acoustics drivers.
Bromo is taken from an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. The name Bromo is derived from a word in Javanese: pronunciation of Brahma, The Hindu creator of God. It is a 2-way ported speaker with hard material drivers including the SB17CAC35-4 woofer. Ceramics provides a very hard and robust surface with improved sonic properties and cosmetic appearance. The SB26CDC-C000-4 tweeter combines the exceptional detail of a metal dome with the smoothness and non-fatiguing characteristics of ceramic. Experience superb high-frequency extension and authoritative mid-bass reproduction.
The drivers are known for very high performance, low distortion, and a unique price-performance ratio. The NBAC (aluminum) mid/woofers and CAC (ceramic) woofers can be both used with the same crossover designed for this kit. Tweeters ADC (aluminum) and CDC (ceramic) are also interchangeable. Though the specs are similar, both setups are audibly different. The ceramic set is a subjective step up from a relatively small difference in price.
This is a hard cone/dome kit but without the typical ‘issues’ as audible breakups of the mid-woofer and the tweeter never get too harsh for the ears. The speaker is detailed and more ‘punchy’ than what was expected from this cabinet size while displaying a noticeable lack of coloration. A demo was done at Axpona Show 2019 in Chicago and we received hugely positive feedback.
SB Acoustics has developed, built, tested, listened to, and is proud of this kit’s performance.
Not a fan of the white cone? We offer the standard, black, anodized cone version as an option when configuring your kit. The specs. are identical between the two so no crossover changes. The white cone is reported to have a bit more magic. The price is a bit less too.
Efficiency is 84dB
The Crossover
Desinged by Dansian Audio’s Ulrich Schmidt. We’ve auditioned factory kit designs for years and the guys at Dansian are the only ones to nail it. If you were ever able to attend CES or Axpona for an audition, I think you would agree.
How Does it Sound?
This is a hard cone/dome kit but without the typical ‘issues’ as audible breakups of the mid-woofer and the tweeter never get too harsh for the ears. The speaker is detailed and more ‘punchy’ than what was expected from this cabinet size while displaying a noticeable lack of coloration. A demo was done at Axpona Show 2019 in Chicago and we received hugely positive feedback. We have that pair (black cabinets) and continue to bring them to all the local DIY events with always great reception.
