SB Acoustics, SB20PFC30-4, 8″ Paper Cone 4 Ohm Woofer
These were once OEM only drivers and feature non-resonant ABS plastic cones. Because of the shape, they are difficult for most to flush mount but can be surface mounted with little effect on diffraction.
This version is great for low cost builds and the plastic frame makes trimming for tight fits easy. This is the last one in stock!

Somebody needs to get the word out on these things and I guess that somebody is me. These things are hard to beat for 40 bucks. I’m using them as midrange drivers in an OB with a pair of Peerless SLS 12’s and a Beston dipole tweeter per side. Mini DSP between the woofers and mid and a cap and a coil on the tweeter. I cannot attest to their low frequency performance because I’m crossing them at 200Hz to the woofers. Having said that, the top end on these is outstanding. I’m crossing them to the Bestons at 6Khz. I know that sounds crazy but I’ve tried several 2-4 inch full range drivers in 2-4 way (with and without the tweeter} configurations and so far this is the most coherent most listenable most fun and least fatiguing (after 3-4 hours my ears get tired). I highly recommend these drivers. Especially for newbies. They pretty much roll off at 5.6Khz 3rd order butterworth with no drama; no distortion. They don’t even need a crossover (they really don’t). Plop ’em in a box, pick a tweeter, order some caps and coils for said tweeter and dial them in. You will not be disappointed. I love these woofers and other people need to discover them so they don’t go away.
It’s taken me about 2 hours to write this review because I have to keep going back to the stereo to listen. Don’t be scared of the FRP frame. Don’t be scared of the ridiculous frame shape (if this is what surface mounted driver diffraction sounds like, please may I have some more). I give these 5 stars because I don’t have the option to give them 10.
